At our November B Learning lunch, we heard from Lisa Cox from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, along with representatives and interns from New Seasons Market and Nossa Familia Coffee, about the Oregon Applied Sustainability Experience (OASE). OASE is an internship program administered by Oregon Sea Grant and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, funded through a grant from EPA. This non-regulatory and voluntary program invites Oregon businesses to host a free, full-time, ten week intern to conduct onsite sustainability research at their businesses.
Thank you to everyone who came to our July B Learning lunch, where we focused on a project entitled US, A Collection of Immigration Stories from Our B Corp Family: Their Journeys, Experiences, and Reflections on Home. The production of this book was an all-volunteer initiative, and the goal was to learn, highlight and reflect on the unique immigration stories in our community. The project was “driven by the need for personal connection and the desire to recognize ourselves in each other. The result is a collection of stories that feature the paths by which members of our B Local community, originating from all over the world, came to reside in Portland, Oregon. These volunteers were asked to share their personal experiences in the effort to foster a bigger conversation about immigration.”
Thank you to everyone who came to our June B Learning lunch at HUB, and special thanks to our speaker, Anais Tuepker, from 350PDX. We learned more about how B Corps can become involved in the organization's mission to "address the causes of climate disruption through justice-based solutions by inspiring, training and mobilizing people to act," with a particular focus on the Portland Clean Energy Fund.
